Coaching for early-career engineers
I coach engineers in their first few years on the skills that sit beside the technical ones. AI is taking on more of the implementation, and what makes an engineer stand out is shifting toward how they think, communicate, work with a team and manage the work itself.
Who it's for
Engineers a few years into the job who are solid on the technical side and want to get better at everything around it.
What we might work on
- Getting people behind an idea. Starting from why a change matters before getting to how it works, whether it's a design doc, a pull request or a proposal to your team.
- Being a teammate people trust. Building enough trust that you can disagree in the open, commit to a decision once it's made, hold each other to it, and put the team's results ahead of your own.
- Seeing people clearly. Noticing when a colleague has started to feel like an obstacle, and checking how you're seeing them before deciding what they did wrong.
- Managing the flow of work. Making work visible, keeping less of it in progress, protecting time from unplanned work, and finding the real bottleneck before speeding anything else up.
- Managing AI as well as using it. Giving an AI agent clear context and specific asks, splitting work into pieces it can do well, reviewing what it hands back, and deciding which calls stay with you.
- Communicating up and across. Writing updates people read, asking for help early, and giving and taking feedback without it turning personal.
How to start
It's informal for now. Book a 30-minute intro call, or email me and we'll figure out what would help. Tell me a little about where you are and what's on your mind. Write to karthiks3000@gmail.com.
